Q: If a doctor writes a prescription for me to have equipment in the home, will Medicare pay for it?

A: For Medicare reimbursement, it mutt be a covered item according to the Medicare guidelines. Just because a physician orders equipment, doesn't automatically mean Medicare will cover it. Reliable Hea1thcare will inform you if it is a covered item, and if its not, will offer you a retail price on it.

Q: Do you have lift chair recliners? Does; Medicare cover them?

A: Reliable Healthcare carries the Pride line of lift chain. Medicare covers 80% of the lift part and a supp1ement wil1 cover the 20%. The chair itself is a non-covered item. because Medicare does not, pay for furniture. You must have arthritis or or severe neuro-muscular disease, unable to get up from any other chair in the home, is able to walk once standing and other therapy / modalities have been tried and proven non-effective. Medicare must not have purchased a wheelchair of any kind to qualify for this item.

Q: I have a walker that Medicare purchased for me about 2 years ago. It is broken and unsafe for me to use. If my doctor orders me a new one will Medicare pay for it?

A: Medicare's guidelines state that the useful life for such equipment is 5 years. However if it is unsafe to use, Medicare may purchase a new one for you if the required documentation is received.

Q: Will Medicare pay for any bathroom equipment such as toilet elevator or shower chair?

A: These items are considered non covered according to Medicare guidelines.
